What Is HIFU Skin Tightening?

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment that tightens and lifts the skin by stimulating collagen production deep within the skin layers. Unlike surface treatments, HIFU targets the structural layers of the skin, helping to restore firmness and elasticity over time.

Our HIFU treatment can be used on the face, neck, jawline and body, and is ideal for clients near Portsmouth wanting visible lifting and skin tightening without needles, surgery or downtime.

How Does HIFU Work?

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to gently heat the skin's deeper layers. This triggers a natural regenerative response, encouraging the body to produce new collagen and elastin. As collagen rebuilds, the skin becomes firmer, tighter and more lifted.

On the face, this is what makes HIFU such a popular non-surgical face lift. The same technology is equally effective on the neck, jawline and body, helping to treat:

 • Sagging skin on the face and neck
 • Loose skin around the jawline and chin
 • Fine lines and wrinkles
 • Loss of skin firmness on the abdomen, arms and thighs

Non-Surgical Face Lift near Portsmouth

A non-surgical face lift using HIFU offers long-lasting skin tightening without the risks or recovery associated with surgical procedures. Clients can return to normal activities immediately after treatment, making HIFU a popular choice for those with busy lifestyles.

When Will I See Results From HIFU?

While some tightening may be noticeable shortly after treatment, full HIFU results take up to 90 days to develop.

This is because HIFU works by stimulating natural collagen production. Over the next 90 days, collagen continues to regenerate, resulting in gradual, long-lasting skin tightening and lifting. Results improve progressively during this time and can last several months.

Hifu FAQ's

Does HIFU hurt?

Most people feel a warm, tingling sensation during treatment, with brief moments of more intense heat as the ultrasound energy is delivered. Any discomfort is usually mild and settles quickly.

How many HIFU sessions will I need?

HIFU is generally recommended twice a year for maintenance. If you have significant skin laxity, your first 4 sessions may be scheduled every 3 months, with complementary treatments such as microneedling, radiofrequency or skin boosters recommended in between to help achieve your desired results.

Is there any downtime after HIFU?

HIFU is a non-invasive treatment with no surgery and no downtime, so you can return to your normal activities straight away. Some clients experience mild redness, swelling or a tingling sensation for a few hours to a few days afterwards.

How long do HIFU results last?

Results typically last between 2 and 4 years, until your skin's natural collagen gradually loosens again. How long your results last will depend on your home aftercare routine and any booster treatments you have.

What's the difference between HIFU and RF skin tightening?

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the deeper structural layers of the skin, making it better suited to lifting and firming. RF (radio frequency) skin tightening uses radio energy and heat, and is often used for more general skin tightening and fat reduction.

Is HIFU suitable for me?

HIFU isn't usually suitable if you have active skin conditions such as severe acne, eczema or psoriasis, open wounds in the treatment area, or metallic implants nearby. A consultation will confirm whether HIFU is right for you.

Can HIFU be used on the body as well as the face?

Yes. While HIFU is best known as a non-surgical face lift, the same technology is also used to tighten and firm the neck, jawline, abdomen, arms and thighs. Body areas may need more sessions than the face, as skin thickness varies.
